Wine O'Clock: Brancott Estate Sauvignon Blanc 2016 1

After a pleasant day strolling along a warm beach it was back to the caravan for supper! And we opened a bottle of Brancott Estate Sauvignon Blanc 2016.

A Snippet of History:

New Zealand’s Brancott Estate were the first to plant Sauvignon Blanc in the Marlborough region, back in the 1970s. The climate in Marlborough, situated in New Zealand’s South island, creates a fresh flavour due to sun filled days and chilly nights.

In the 1980s the wine was shipped to the UK where it has gone from strength to strength winning numerous awards from around the world.

Review:

On pouring, the wine has a clean green-yellow hue and has notes of pineapple, tropical fruit, a whisper of fresh grass and I could even pick up the scent of a tomato leaf!

The flavour is packed, a vivacious mouthful. It is delightfully zesty and zingy on the tongue and carries flavours of tart gooseberry, lush tropical fruits mixed with frisky grapefruit.

This Sauvignon Blanc serves nicely with fresh fish, shellfish, velvety cream cheese and off-sets spicy dishes splendidly.

It truly is a delight to drink on a warm Summer’s evening and finished off the day perfectly.

This is Summer in a glass…. Chin chin!
