Wensleydale Creamery: For the Love of Cheese
Cheese! I do love my cheese. And I do have a favourite, Wensleydale. A big branch of my family tree leads to Yorkshire valley of Wensleydale and as children, my brother and I would be…
Yorkshire is one of the most popular places to travel to in Britain and with good reason. Home of the Yorkshire Dales and the North Yorkshire moors as well as some great historical cities and towns.
The county is the largest historical county in England and covers a vast area of the north. On the west lies the Pennines bordering Lancashire and way to the east are the Yorkshire Moors and the Yorkshire Wolds.
In the central area is the famous Yorkshire Dales. One of the most popular National Parks and with many good reasons. Beautiful landscapes, pretty old villages, unique geology and plenty of natural landmarks.
The capital city of the county is York which is unmissable itself. An ancient city that has a past dating back to Romans and Vikings. Did you know that York has over 30 world class museums to explore as well as not forgetting the iconic York Minster. You can even take it in by walking the ancient walls.
To the North of York is the North Yorkshire Moors where the landscape differs so much from the dales. A coast that is highly visited to the east that includes old quaint villages like Robin Hoods Bay and Whitby with the Abbey and the connections to Dracula.
Yorkshire has influenced many literary greats beyond Bram Stoker. There is James Heriot’s All Creatures Great and Small plus Emily Bronte’s Wuthering Heights to name just a couple.
We cannot forget West and South Yorkshire where the geology changes once again and the historic industrial towns sit amongst the green of the hills and the pennines with so much walking and days out to be had.
Join us on our journeys throughout Yorkshire from hikes and walks to exploration of towns and natural landmarks and beauty. Welcome to Yorkshire.
