This Keto and low carb Beef Stroganoff recipe is perfect when you want something warming and filling that does not take too much to put together.

This is keto as it does not use any of the carb heavy flour and it is flavoursome and satiating with lots of double cream and sour cream goodness.

Once you have all the ingredients it is basically a one-pot dish.

Plus, making your own creamy sauce means that it excels way above the prepackaged and bland sauces out there.

There are so many low carb and keto options to serve as a side to this dish. From mashed cabbage or cauliflower to cauliflower rice. I like to serve with zucchini/courgette noodles like with the carbonara.

You can use this recipe as a base and adapt yourself to your tastes too. Maybe add some cooking sherry when cooking or a bit of lemon juice.

Which cut of meat to use. You will see here that I even used cut stewing steak to make life even easier but if you want more tenderness or flavour then you can cut some sirloin or ribeye. Most cuts of beef are adaptable to this recipe.

Ingredients

  • 450 g steak cut into cubes

  • 1/2 chopped red onion

  • 100 g sliced mushrooms

  • 100 g cream cheese

  • 50 ml sour cream

  • 50 ml double/heavy cream

  • 180 ml beef broth

  • 1/2 tsp Dijon mustard

  • 1/2 tsp garlic granules

  • 1/2 tsp thyme

  • 1/2 tsp salt

  • 1/4 tsp ground pepper

  • 1/2 tbsp butter

Directions

  • Season the steak with salt and pepper.
  • Melt the butter in a frying pan.
  • Fry the steak in the pan until browned, around 5 minutes.frying the beef
  • Take the steak out and leave it to rest on a plate.
  • In the meantime, into the pan add the onion, mushrooms, garlic, thyme, salt and pepper.
  • Cook this on a high heat until the onions have softened, will be approximately 5 minutes again.
  • Lower the heat to medium then add the cream cheese, sour cream, double cream, mustard and beef broth. Cook and stir gently until the cheese all melts and the sauce thickens up.
  • Now add the beef into the the pan in the sauce and let it all simmer for about 10 minutes or to your desired thickness.
  • Ready to serve with your desired side.
