I had a free weekend so decided to head to Whitby for a mini break on a whim. Why not indeed? I therefore needed accommodation and had heard many good things about The Corra Lynn Bed and Breakfast.
So now was a chance to check it out for myself!
After arrival I was met by the most wonderful hosts, Michelle and Simon. A lovely couple who really care about your comfort and stay in Whitby.
They showed me to my room and I was greeted by beautiful colour, warmth and that real feeling of a place to relax after a day of discovery.
The location of The Corra Lynn is perfect for exploring Whitby itself and the surrounding area. It is based right near the sea by The West Cliff. There is a free car park at the property and to be honest I didn’t need to use the car again for the whole weekend.
The centre of historic Whitby is only a 5 minute walk away down the road or through Pannett Park, plus from here I could walk and walk to my hearts content, along the coast in any direction. Towards Saltwick Bay one way or Runswick Bay the other.
From the outside you do get the real Victorian feel for the building and as you have seen that this has been beautifully enhanced with great colours. The greens of the dining room certainly do have an inviting wow factor.
Breakfast! I must talk about the breakfast. One of the reasons I had heard about this place is because it is known for its breakfast.
Choices, choices. All perfectly made by Simon. Waking up in the morning here is accompanied by that great smell of flavours cooking in the kitchen. Everything is very fresh.
A top-tip is kippers from the local and famous Fortunes Whitby smoke house.
I mentioned the hosts Michelle and Simon. Throughout the weekend I could see that a great stay and experience along with absolutely reasonable rates was paramount. Very friendly indeed and always serving you with a genuine smile.
In the times I got to speak to them it was interesting to hear their story of a complete change from a city lifestyle to come here and run the bed and breakfast in a place they obviously love.
Settled and relaxed, with a base for a weekend in Whitby, it was time to explore, camera in hand. In my next post I will share those views here of course.
As for The Corra Lynn Bed and Breakfast. I highly recommend it as you can tell. The word I had heard was correct.
